The Lutheran Girls Volleyball team had the exciting opportunity to compete in the State Championship on the 14th and 15th of November leading to a second place win against Thomson Valley at the Denver Coliseum. It was an intense three days but through their hard work and dedication they beat Cheyanne Mountain in semi-finals 2-3 (16-25, 25-17, 25-22, 19-25, 16-14).
The team was able to reach their goals to make it to the State Championship game and become the runner ups. They rounded out the end of the week with an intense match against Thomson Valley where they lost 3-0 (25-19, 25-12, 25-14). The team was very excited to beat Cheyanne Mountain in the semi-final because they lost to them once and beat them once during the regular season.
The team worked hard all season with passion and commitment and it showed at the state game. Aubrey Harrington said “I thought it was a big accomplishment for us to make it to the state championship. The game was very exciting and we were all proud of each other.” The girls had to stay focused throughout the three days of hard competition but they made it through the tough competition.
They were able to have this unforgettable experience as a team and made new memories, “my favorite part of going to state were the memories I made, and the bus ride there and back,” remarked Aubrey Harrington. The girls were able to compete at a high level and share this experience together. For many of the girls, it was their senior year and they finished their High School Volleyball careers with a strong State Championship game.
