LuHi Senior, Addison Herl, is on Ponderosa’s Swim and Dive Team. She has had an outstanding end to her high school career. Herl won two and set a 4A state record, which earned her 4A Swimmer of the Year honors. Addy is headed to the Navy after graduating, and she finished her career by taking down the 4A state record in the 100 backstroke. She swam a lifetime best of 54.18, taking down Audrey Reimer’s 2018 mark by four-hundredths. Earlier in the meet, Herl won the 100 butterfly in 55.38.
LuHi is so excited that Addy took 1st Place in both her individual events at State, the 100 Fly and the 100 Back. The times she received on these events qualify her for both the US Open and the Summer Jr. Nationals Meets. Addison Herl was also chosen as the 4A State Swimmer of the Year. She also broke 3 individual Ponderosa records in the 50 Free, 100 Fly, and the 100 Back.
Addy has an obvious love for swimming and through this she shares her love for Christ as well. Herl was asked about some of the hardships that can come with doing a sport you love. She responded with, “You are going to have some rough days but those rough days don’t define you. Days like these are when you grow and get stronger mentally and physically.” The struggles that you may face in life can be used for a greater purpose to glorify God. Addison is a great example of using your talents and passions to showcase the love of Christ.
