Homecoming week is an exciting part of the school year that the Lutheran student body looks forward to. Student council worked hard to come up with dress up days for the week of October 20-26. During the homecoming week at Lutheran High School, there is a competition
between all of the classes where points are accumulated through the different activities during the week as well as the dress-up days.
The exciting week started on October 20th, where all classes had the opportunity to decorate their hallways with decorations relating to the theme. On Monday, there is a prep rally where each grade can play games and gain points for their class. The dress up day on Monday is the Opening Ceremony: Team USA. Students can dress in red, white, and blue to represent team USA.
The dress up day on Tuesday is Individual Competition day where students wear something that symbolizes what they would win a gold medal for if it was in the Olympic game. At the end of the day there is a Blacklight Dodgeball game where all students can participate.
Wednesday’s theme is team sports day where students can dress up with their friends with matching athletic attire. Although there is no schedule adaptation on Wednesday for activities, students can still try to uplift their class’s ranking through their outfits.
Thursday’s theme is Athlete Rest day where they can wear their comfy clothes and cheer on their classmates in fun games, while Friday is the closing ceremony where each grade wears their class colors and watch or perform a lip sync.
Rounding out the week, the Homecoming dance is on Saturday with the theme of Paris at Night. There were many students who liked the theme and many who didn’t. For example, Junior Ava Engelhardt said “I like the theme of the dance because it is Paris at Night. I wish that the dress up days were more creative, but the Individual Competition dress up day is good.” Another student, Junior Eunice Choe said “It is a very creative theme that connects with current events with unique ideas. My favorite dress up day is Team Sports Day.”
The dress up days are something students will remember about their Homecoming, especially the competition between the grades. The dress up days and points competition adds to the fun of the dance.
