Over the course of the 2024-2025 school year the varsity girls volleyball team has destroyed their competition and made their way to nationals. In order to get their way to regionals the team has to work together and work on their strengths and weaknesses.
“Our team prepared by focusing on the specific areas that we believed would give us a competitive advantage. Preparation was cut short by the snow days but the girls were ready once we got the day started,” their coach, Mrs. Kidston said. Preparation is very important for the girls in order to know their team dynamic and work together the best they can. “Our team has been working on the serve pass game as well as using each of our hitters, spreading out our offense, and turning defense into offense,” Kidston emphasized. The girls have to be patient while playing because of the very strong defense the other teams have. “It may be long rallies before we terminate a play,” said Kidston.
This year the team has shown immense improvement by using more of their middles and mixing up their shots which has given their team more success. Working hard to achieve a place at state is an amazing accomplishment for the team. Mrs. Kidston excitedly said, “Making it to State has become an expectation which is good but we also want to enjoy this week before State because it is an accomplishment and some teams never have this opportunity. It is a fun and exciting week!” Especially after the snow days that cut the girls practice short and the stress and overall excitement, regionals can be overwhelming to go into. “We started a little slow, but we found our groove, and ended up sweeping the Region which was a great beginning to State Week.” Kidston said. The team showed their dedication, preparation, and teamwork and destroyed the commission and made it a memorial week at State.
