The Lutheran Boys wrestling season is nearing its end, but fortunately not for everyone. Regionals, which would qualify the wresting team for State is nearing, along with State itself. State is coming up, and regionals to qualify for state has begun. Regionals is a three day tournament, where the coaches choose the best wrestlers to compete, and if they place top four in regionals, they will move on to state. One wrestler, Maxton Gonzales, is positive about his season, even though he didn’t go to regionals. This was his first season wrestling in varsity as a sophomore.
Max has learned a lot this season, and he can’t wait to start training for the off season. He says he is excited to start working out, by lifting weights and doing conditioning, as well as going to wrestling camps. He says that looking back on his season, he had a blast. He learned to become a better wrestler, and learn to be a good friend with his teammates.
He loves the community from his team and loves the strength that comes from it. He is happy that he has had a chance to become a leader by helping out his teammates, and being there for them. Max loved many matchups throughout the season, but one stuck out to him the most: going up against Air Academy. They all had good competition, and fun matchups for him. Now, heading into next season, he is very excited to experience it all again, and is looking forward to becoming an upperclassmen/team leader.
