Homecoming, as big as it was for the dance and homecoming court, was also a weekend of great success for our cheer team. The team qualified for High School Nationals in Orlando, Florida at Walt Disney Resort, where they will be showcasing their skills on February 9-12 2024. This achievement came from not only the group’s pure skill but also the strong community built within the team. Lily Bacon, a freshman on the team said, “I think the reason we have gotten this far is because when I was coming in as my first year I was welcomed into what I felt was a home and I felt a connection to some of the girls almost immediately. I think community is something that the cheer team strives for because the only way to succeed is through communication and trust with our teammates when a few of us are being lifted into the air as flyers or as the bases for the flyers holding them up while they do tricks”.

The Luhi cheer team has been growing for the last few years, providing them the time and opportunity to build relationships that last through high school and into college. But they can’t put their routine over the top without the Luhi student body, who give only praise and support through the chants sung out for the other team’s parents and supporters to hear.
