This week, our halls were not filled with just students and teachers, but with witches, ghosts, superheroes, and even some vampires! Halloween took spirit as everyone joined the fun, showing off their costume creativity and spooky style.
The week began pretty normally, but it all started getting a bit spookier and scarier every day, until, eventually, on Friday, everybody came dressed up in their costumes! Everyone got to strut around the halls and show off their cool outfits. From clever DIY to store-bought classics, it was clear that everyone had put thought into their looks. Teachers joined in too – some surprising their class with better costume ideas than the students!
Mollie Cochran, a freshman here at LuHi, wore a wonderful giraffe outfit that got everyone’s attention! Mollie stated that “I chose this costume because it was really warm and cozy and I really like giraffes. I would re-wear this costume because I have re-worn it 3 times and I really like it. I mean, I was going to wear a princess costume with my friends but they bailed on me, so… I am going trick or treating, though, because I want free candy!”
Throughout the day, classrooms were transformed with cobwebs, pumpkins, and even paper bats hanging from the ceiling! Many teachers planned their lessons to be Halloween themed and had fun games and art projects. Mollie also decided to join into more of these Halloween activities by bringing her own spooky lunch! “I brought ghost cheese and coffin crackers! I saw this idea on Pinterest and thought it would be fun to do it myself! I would probably not eat these again, though, but it was still yummy at the time I ate it.”
The highlight for many students were the Halloween parties occurring throughout most classes! Music echoed throughout the halls as the Halloween cheer was spreading. Students danced and played games throughout the day. Of course, students still did some school work but not as much as regular days.
Halloween wasn’t just about costumes and dressing up and candy. It was also about community and creativity. This event reminded students of how important it is to come together as a school, try something new, and share a few laughs (and maybe a few scares) along the way.
As the week ended and the decorations came down, the Halloween spirit lingered.
