What You Might Not Know About The LuHi Pod

What+You+Might+Not+Know+About+The+LuHi+Pod

Many people are not aware but this year Lutheran High School did something they had never done in years prior, they started a podcast called the LuHi Pod. Just coming up on their 37th episode set to come out the second week of May, Hannah Buchholz and Taylor James, the founders of this idea, work hard to come up with interesting topics and release a new episode every week.  It takes more work than one realizes to plan for these episodes, Mrs. Buchholz and Ms. James spend 2-4 hours working on each episode from writing questions, to scheduling interviews, to lots of editingNonetheless, the duo’s effort ensures that the podcast tells the story of the school and provides helpful information to families.

I had the chance to interview Mrs. Buchholz and she shared more in depth about her experience with The Pod. The idea came from wanting to have a new way to get information to parents as social media, blogs, and emails have become overwhelming and outdated. The ultimate goal of the podcast is to tell Lutheran Highs’ story well and provide a platform for families to receive accurate and timely information about the school. When asked if the podcast is reaching this goal, Mrs. Buchholz explained “Yes and no, I’m in charge of the brand and branding is not just colors and logos but it’s our story. It’s a slow climb, there was initial excitement then a drop in listeners, and now parents, our main audience, only listen to topics they’re excited about.” She explained how Ms. James and she are experimenting with new content as they are learning more about what people want to listen to and are targeting to teach new parents about the school’s mission aren’t as familiar with LuHi. Finally, their vision for the Pod is ideally to have every family introduced to it and know it’s a place to get good information. Mrs. Buchholz would be thrilled if she could hear conversations in the community surrounding the podcast and would love it if families got involved and shared what they would want to hear.

The LuHi Pod airs a new episode every Monday, featuring a range of topics that are relevant to the school and its community.  It is an innovative and fun way to be involved in the Lutheran High School family. Whether you’re a new parent looking to learn more about LuHi or a student interested in the latest happenings at your school, the LuHi Pod is worth tuning into.
